Cider-friendly sports bar the Prospect is closing Monday, April 30.
Washington City Paper reports that the neighborhood pub that’s served assorted hot wings, tacos, and s’mores empanadas for the past two years is being renovated this June in anticipation of starting over as something else.
Parent company Social Restaurant Group (Bar Bao, Pamplona, Provision No. 14) is planning on putting in a restaurant with broader appeal, telling WCP that the replacement eatery will likely feature nightly dinner service and weekend brunch. SRG unveiled the Prospect in late 2015, redecorating the former Ulah Bistro space (1214 U Street NW) with bowling pins, baseball bats, and skateboards.
The local hospitality group has plenty on its plate in the coming months. Its three-pronged Wharf restaurant La Vie is currently projected to debut in May. Its new Mexican eatery Rebel Taco is heading to Philly this summer. And Arlington is supposed to get its own Rebel Taco whenever companion beer garden the Lot comes online.
