Petworth eatery Little Coco’s is welcoming summer with a playful rooftop beach bar complete with orange crushes served in color-changing cups, boardwalk bites, and a life-sized cutout of Baywatch star David Hasselhoff.

The intentionally-cheesy seasonal oasis — dubbed “Coco Beach” — will feature a newly installed bar serving lots of tropical drinks and tall boy beers. The space will be adorned with astroturf, beach chairs, coolers with cup holders, surfboards made into tables, pink flamingos, palms, and a five-foot papier-mâché shark made by co-owner Jackie Greenbaum, she tells Eater. Colorful signposts, a fun nod to drinking destinations near and far drinking destinations, reveal how many miles away sister bar Bar Charley and Ocean City’s Seacrets are from Petworth.

Featured foods ($4 to $19) include seasonal splurges like caramel popcorn, smoked jerk chicken wings, Buffalo shrimp, and beach fries with malt vinegar aioli. For cocktails, there’s a “stronger” section with a Dark n Stormy, “Coco-nutty” picks like a pina colada, a lineup devoted to booze-forward author Ernest Hemingway, like Death in the Gulf Stream, and beach-y beers like a Natty Boh tall boy and jumbo Red Stripes.

Coco Beach is projected to from 5 p.m. to midnight, Tuesday through Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday to Saturday, and from noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday. The flip-flop friendly hangout (3907 14th St NW) is scheduled to open at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23. The first 20 people through the door will be privy to Coco Beach swag.
