Burgeoning chain Founding Farmers unveiled its newest location in Northern Virginia (1904 Reston Metro Plaza Drive) last month.
The Reston outpost features familiar offerings from across the growing family of restaurants including specialty doughnuts, locally distilled spirits, gourmet burgers, fried chicken (with or without waffles), and more.
Read on to hear what the public is saying, just a few weeks in:
The Ever So Grateful News: Google reviewer Daisy Whittemore writes that she, “loved everything about this restaurant. Food from amazing and interesting cocktails through house made ice cream for dessert. The decor is gorgeous and the restaurant was very comfortable.” Yelper Jordan I. notes, “There literally something for everyone. The mac and cheese is to die for!” Meanwhile, Kaitlyn C. fell hard for the breakfast burrito. “Holy cow was it CHEAP and delish!” she writes, adding, “They definitely don’t skimp you on the contents of the burrito.” [Google, Yelp]
The Noticeably Inconsistent News: Yelper Emily M. says, “The fried chicken breading was delicious but the meat was incredibly dry. Macaroni and cheese was tasty the first time I tried it, however it didn’t taste the same and was very al dente when I sampled more.” And Yelper Carroll L. says, “The shrimp and grits were over cooked and dry (much better in Tysons) but the poke bowl was super amazing.” [Yelp]
The Happy Endings News: Instagram user @kev_james1 says “the doughnuts at Founding Farmers are some of the best I’ve ever had.” And @mccauley21 snaps a pic of the boozy corn flake and whiskey vanilla ice cream: “Trust me it’s more whiskey than anything.” [Instagram]
The Watch the Clock News: Facebook reviewer Eddie Henson says, “Be sure to call and make a reservation during standard brunch hours.” And Yelper J. D. L., who just wanted a simple to go order from the bar waited over an hour for his food. “When I got it back it was obvious the food had been sitting somewhere for 40 minutes and no one cared. The pasta was cold as ice,” he says. [Facebook, Yelp]
The Chill Vibes News: Yelper Layla S. says, “The staff was so polite and food was on time and quick.” And Google reviewer Alison Beck “would highly recommend if you need a date spot, a hangout spot or just need a drink. The menu has endless options.” [Yelp, Google]
The Ready to be a Regular News: Google reviewer Jeff Wright opted for a fried chicken and doughnut plate — and now he’s hooked. “Probably the best chicken I’ve had since moving from Louisiana. This might be a twice a week restaurant,” he writes. [Google]
