Takoma Park diners should be able to spend the summer drinking locally produced wines, hard cider, and beers at Great Shoals Winery’s new tasting room.
General manager Marina McCaney tells Eater the Silver Spring wine maker wasn’t quite ready to make an announcement about the expansion plans — a tipster sent Popville pictures of a liquor license application — but confirmed that Great Shoals is setting up shop at 7050 Carroll Avenue. McCaney says the plan is to serve over a dozen of its assorted wines by the glass, as well as 10 of its distinctive ciders, and two beers on draft.
“It’s gonna be all Maryland and D.C.,” McCaney says of the brews flowing from the taps.
The forthcoming shop, which is projected to have seating for around 45 patrons inside and “a few tables” outside, is also expected to stock bottles of wines for retail purchase. “We will have the majority of what we make available on site,” McCaney says. Tasting room staff will also prepare cheese plates and snacks (hummus with pitas) for those looking to grab a bite.
The new Great Shoals Tasting Room is currently scheduled to operate from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday and Friday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. McCaney says the Takoma Park location should come online this June.
