Chef Fabio Trabocchi is opening a new version of his flagship restaurant Fiola in Coral Gables, Florida. The D.C. restaurateur announced the expansion of his Michelin-starred property via social media; he expects to open Fiola Miami in late fall.
Over in Hyattsville, Washington Business Journal reports that two local restaurant groups are adding new outposts at the Mall at Prince Georges. Fast-casual juggernaut &pizza and budding Mediterranean-style Mezeh are opening new shops in July and August, respectively. Mezeh is also opening a location at Ballston’s developing Quarter Market food hall this fall.

Aspiring chain Basic Burger is closing its two-year-old location in Courthouse (2024 Wilson Boulevard) this week but also to other parts of Arlington, and potentially D.C. Arlnow reports that the gourmet burger shop is hoping to open its new flagship location along Pentagon Row (1101 S. Joyce Street) as early as this weekend; the owner has also signed leases for two new eateries in North Arlington and one inside the District.
Coming Attractions
A tipster alerts Popville about two new restaurants headed to Foggy Bottom: Flower Child and North Italia. The two newcomers (2112 Pennsylvania Avenue NW) are part of Fox Restaurant Concepts, a group out of the southwest that is also opening another Flower Child in Rockville, Maryland. Flower Child serves salads, wraps, and bowls, while North Italia focuses on gourmet pizza and pasta.
