Coming attractions

Buffalo & Bergen (B&B) founder Gina Chersevani is expanding on the bagel sandwiches and funky cocktails she serves at Union Market by adding a broader restaurant to her portfolio this fall. Washington City Paper reports that Chersevani is opening a second B&B just up the road from Union Station (240 Massachusetts Avenue NE) which is expected to feature heartier options such as chicken cutlets and lasagna.

Over by U Street NW, Popville reports that a new Ethiopian restaurant, Lucy Bar, is moving into the space formerly occupied by Climax (900 Florida Avenue NW). It remains unclear if this new Lucy venture is related to a pair of Ethiopian restaurants in Silver Spring and Bethesda, Maryland by the same name. Eater will update this story as more information becomes available.

Beer here

Ballston’s Rustico is now a member of the growing roster of local beer gardens. Arlnow reports that the neighborhood restaurant and beer bar has unveiled a 124-seat outdoor drinking space that will host live music on weekends. There’s already two other beer gardens in the immediate area — Spider Kelly’s and Westover Market — and another on the way (the Lot) from local outfit Social Restaurant Group.

More Greek food for Bethesda

Bethesda Magazine reports that Greek taverna Thelo is now open in the former Bistro Lazeez space (8009 Norfolk Avenue). The new neighborhood restaurant is the latest Greek eatery to join the local dining scene this year; budding chain the Big Greek Cafe is in the process of opening a new outpost inside the former Yamas Mediterranean Grill spot right around the corner.
