D.C. restaurant openings

Java powerhouse Blue Bottle is giving away coffee from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 in Logan Circle as part of its “community day” festivities. The grand opening of the cult roaster’s latest location, which is projected to operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, is scheduled for Sunday, July 1. Expansions

Homegrown pie maker &pizza is opening three new restaurants around town in the coming weeks. A new location in Potomac Yard (3525 Jefferson Davis Highway, Alexandria, Va.) is opening on Thursday, July 12, followed by the first &pizza in Hyattsville, Maryland (3500 East West Highway) on Thursday, July 19. Management says an outpost in Reston Town Center (1826 Library Street) is projected to follow in “early August.”

Coming attractions

Bethesda Magazine reports that new Indian restaurant Nirvana is opening on Thursday, July 5 in Olney, Maryland. Restaurateur Kalistus Gomes is returning to the local dining scene after a 3-year hiatus; his last restaurant, Bombay Gaylord, was damaged by the same fire that ravaged recently resurrected dive bar Quarry House Tavern.

Developments

The lesbian bar taking up residence in the basement of Adams Morgan’s newest drinking complex now has a name: A League of Her Own. Look for it this July.
