Neapolitan pizza lovers will have to learn to live without trend-setting 2 Amys while it battles back from extensive water damage.
“We will be closed for the foreseeable future,” management alerted supporters via social media. A note tacked to the front door earlier this week blamed an unspecified “technical issue” for interrupting service. It now seems like the cult pizza maker has finally had a chance to better assess the situation. The problem: a water pipe burst overnight, saturating everything inside the nearly 20-year-old restaurant.
“It’s going to take us awhile to regroup, rebuild, reopen. how long? weeks, for sure. hopefully not months,” management wrote online, assuring fans that “we will be back!!!”
Eater reached out to management for comment about the timetable for reopening, and whether the rebuild would recreate 2 Amys as is or if some improvements might be in the works, but has not heard back. Eater will update this story as more information becomes available.
