Crown & Crow Reminds Patrons of an Underground London Pub

Logan Circle’s new Victorian-era bar Crown & Crow opened earlier this month with an alcohol-only lineup of beers, wine, and cocktails.

The spacious dual-themed drinking den (1317 14th Street NW) comes from partners Brian Harrison, who ran Adams Morgan’s now-defunct the Reef, and Ben Sislen, who owns neighboring Kingfisher.

The subterranean entrant includes the 1,100-square-foot Crow bar, and the much-larger 2,700-square-foot Crown room. Find the hidden gem next to new Indian restaurant Pappe.

Patrons can expect to find 11 wines by the glass, starting at $9 a pour. Any of the featured offerings can also be ordered by the bottle. The BYO food model means patrons can order any bites in. Read on to hear what the public is saying, just a few weeks into service:

The New Favorite Spot News: Yelper V E writes it’s a “great place for a drink. Plenty of space to stretch out and nice, casual vibe. Def my new spot.” Google reviewer Brooke Stonebanks calls it a “breathtakingly large basement bar with beautiful antique accents.” Facebook user Angela Jewell says the spot “smells like new wood, lightning is soft but bright enough so that you can actually see.” [Yelp, Google, Facebook]

The Name Dropping News: Yelper Jason K. says “owner Brian is an old school bartender who remembers and appreciates regulars (anyone who ever frequented Jackpot knows).” Yelper Rachel D. says “the staff is fantastic especially Jeremy, who works Saturday nights! The London’s Calling News: Yelper Irina D. says there’s an “amazing beer selection and you forget you’re in D.C. After spending a semester in London and having all my classes in pubs, it def has a genuine pub feel.” Yelper Shawn W. says “the vibe is very laid-back, the atmosphere is quite beautiful and every now and then, you may get a sample of a certain liquor/beer.” [Yelp]

The Stay A While News: Facebook user Anthony Cauterucci says it’s a “great new spot for meeting friends after work or hanging out all night long. Live music, craft cocktails, and long list of cold beers on tap.... pretty awesome.” [Facebook]

The Entertainment News: Yelper Matthew S. “can’t wait to watch sports on their MONSTER TV wall. Great addition to 14th Street!” Eric F. notes the “live blues music the night we came (no cover). Decent beer selection ($7-9/pint) and a boat-load of whiskies on the menu.
