Opening alert/expansions

Spice-6, the Indian fast-casual mini chain, opens its fourth area location today (at 10:30a.m.) at Westfield Montgomery Mall. This location’s menu focuses on Southern Indian dishes and has a full vegan/vegetarian menu; dosa and naan are made to order. Anyone who visits the new outpost today will get a free mini dosa — from 11a.m. until 1p.m. and again from 5p.m. until 7p.m. — with the purchase of a naan pizza, rice bowl, kabob entree, naan wrap or salad.

Restaurant weeks

Washington City Paper has the scoop on a forthcoming Black Restaurant Week in D.C. — the first event of its kind in the city — which will focus on the contributions of black chefs, bartenders, and restaurant owners. It’s happening November 4 through 11 and will also have a schedule of programming to work with up-and-coming food talent. [WCP]
