Shaw wine bar La Jambe expanded to Union Market last month with over 20 bottles stored along with lots of whiskey and cognac ready to loosen up shoppers. Now the stall can actually serve it, thanks to a new liquor license.

Starting today, the 13-seat bar (1309 5th Street NE) will debut happy hour (4 p.m. to 7 p.m.) with red, white, and rose wine for $5 and sparkling wine for $6, owner Anastasia Mori tells Eater.

French wines by the glass ($10-$19) include known varietals like Burgundy Pinot Noirs to unique finds like fortified wines. The lengthy alcohol lineup also includes flights of wine and spirits along with a selection of ciders and aperitifs such as sherry and vermouth.

Hours of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. La Jambe also added take-out into the mix at the new location, with charcuterie, cheese, and sandwiches sold from behind a clear deli counter.

Union Market already has another Parisian-inspired destination with Virginia’s Petite Lou Lou, which opened a stall inside this summer with spins on the croque monsieur and spritzes.
