After closing for a few months, Pursuit Wine Bar & Kitchen returns to H Street NE this week in a bigger, brighter location that will dish out fancy grilled cheeses, pastas made on-site, and wines from a global list. The reinvented restaurant from owners Kathleen Davis and Thomas Boisvert is scheduled to open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 31.

The date-night spot went dark this summer to relocate a few blocks west to 1025 H Street NE, a corner property with loads of natural light. All-day cafe and cocktail bar Ella Grace has since slid into the space where Pursuit opened five years ago (1421 H Street NE).

The second iteration features more food options than the original. Longtime favorites like its BLT pasta and “Little Salty Sweet” panini will make a comeback alongside dishes like Romesco radiatori and meatballs. Other Italian and French-themed small plates are also in the mix.

The wine list plays up more small producers, multi-generational family wineries, and female makers. H Street is also home to 2-year-old natural wine bar Dio, which recently retooled its menu with help from local gourmet market Odd Provisions.

The roomier layout includes a patio, an indoor/outdoor bar, banquettes, dining tables, and a communal table designed for large groups and tastings.
