Do a chicken dance
Nando’s Peri-Peri Chicken, the South African chain known for flame-grilled poultry and a multitude of pepper sauces, will re-open its Dupont Circle location tomorrow after a two-month renovation project that included a new kitchen, draft beer taps, and an interior re-design. According to a news release, the restaurant at 1210 18th Street NW now has an area to place pick-up orders by the host stand. To ring in the project’s completion, Nando’s will offer free chicken on Thursday, March 7, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The restaurant, which has been open for 10 years, is one of six Nando’s venues in D.C. proper. The majority of the chain’s stateside businesses are in the greater Washington area. Nando’s also has a large footprint in Chicago.
Hot chicken in Herndon
Northern Virginians who are unwilling to wait for the opening of Hot Lola’s in Ballston can get their hot chicken fix in Fairfax county. Northern Virginia Magazine reports that Nashville-style joint Wooboi Chicken opened in Herndon about two weeks ago. The shop features a Cold Blue-level hot that comes with a request to sign a “waiver form,” in this case a black wall with a disclaimer printed in big letters. Wooboi is right around the corner from Aslin Beer Company, which might help convince city folk to make the trip. [NVM]
