Say Cheesecake
The Cheesecake Factory will open a downtown location next year, bringing its Bible-sized menus into the heart of D.C. The ubiquitous brand will slide into the cavernous corner home of Southern-leaning American kitchen Woodward Table, which is closing after seven years (1426 H Street NW). Popville reported on the rumored replacement yesterday, and a public relations rep confirmed to Eater that the Cheesecake Factory “will be opening in that location” in the early half of 2020. There’s currently only one other Cheesecake Factory in the District, in Chevy Chase. There are also locations in Bethesda, Clarendon, Tysons Corner, and Fairfax.
A Silver Diner for Gaithersburg
The new Gaithersburg, Maryland, location of local-sourcing, food tribe-friendly Silver Diner just set an opening date: Monday, August 26. The 16th local Silver Diner (9811 Washingtonian Boulevard) will be called Silver Diner Rio. It’s the first Silver Diner to incorporate an indoor-outdoor patio and bar.
Renovation report
Shaw’s Gaslight Tavern (2012 9th Street NW) is going offline for over a month to go under the knife, Popville reports. It’s shooting for a mid-September reopening. Meanwhile, The Corner Bakery downtown at 14th and F Streets NW recently went dark to undergo a facelift, but catering is still available. [Popville]
