Buttermilk biscuits, fried chicken, and crispy mac and cheese croquettes beloved in Miami are en route to Washington. Yardbird Southern Table & Bar will plant an outpost in the cavernous former home of downtown New Orleans restaurant Acadiana, per celebrity chef John Kunkel.

Yardbird’s Kunkel just posted a photo of the exterior space at 901 New York Ave. NW., writing on Instagram: “Exciting News! Future home of @yardbirdsouthern #dc coming Spring 2020.”

A rep for Yardbird confirmed the news to Eater, and the Washington Business Journal notes that Yardbird is listed as tenant in the building. The Southern restaurant’s been long rumored to have D.C. in its sights for a location. It has expanded in recent years, opening up in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Singapore, and soon in Dallas.

Passion Food Hospitality group’s Acadiana closed last year after 13 years in business, with hopes to open up again nearby.
