With little Timmy in tow, parents can now reroute babysitter funds towards drinks, lattes, and avocado toast at the Lane, Ivy City’s new family-centric social club.
The 7,800-square-foot business (1408 Okie Street NE). opened yesterday in the evolving Northeast neighborhood, which counts distilleries, wineries, amaro bars, and a Michelin-rated tasting menu spot.
Working moms Molly Nizhnikov and Rachel Lubin wanted to create a two-level place where kids can run free while their parents chill out and connect over wine, coffee, sandwiches, and salads served at an upstairs cafe and bar. IPAs and pale ales come from neighbor Atlas Brew Works. Wine on draft features pours of bubbly, rose, white, and red.
Breakfast items include a Parmesan prosciutto egg sandwich, bagel and lox, and acai bowls, followed by a Mediterranean farro salad, caprese panzanella, and muffuletta. Kids can order a cheese and meat plate modeled after Lunchables, cheese pizza, or grilled cheese.
A giant spiral slide, a 10-foot climbing wall, a ball pit, a netted loft and tunnel, and a reading nook are all meant to entertain (read: tire out) tykes.
