Diners who visit FishScale for a salmon burger or Roaming Rooster for a chicken sandwich this week could win a prize pack worth hundreds of dollars.
This month marks the debut of the DC Black-Owned Restaurant Sweepstakes, an initiative organized by Feed the Malik blogger Anela Malik, Shaw restaurant HalfSmoke, and startup Raise Nation LLC to drive business to Black-owned restaurants in the District.
“I wanted to come up with a fun way to unite the community with Black-owned restaurants that continue to struggle through this pandemic,” says HalfSmoke sales and events manager Julie André, in a statement.
All diners have to do to enter the contest is scan the DC Black-Owned Restaurant Sweepstakes QR code located at the register of participating establishments and then fill out an online submission form. Prize packages range from a $50 FishScale gift card to a bundle worth $400, including a jersey from Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal. Multiple entries are permitted, and submissions will be accepted through Sunday, August 16, at 11:59 p.m.
