A new rooftop bar that serves poolside tropical cocktails, Mediterranean dips, charcuterie, and Catalan-style coca flatbreads just opened on top of a Logan Circle hotel. Hush started serving the public over Memorial Day weekend, giving the Viceroy Washington D.C. a new drinking spot with a view. Viceroy replaced thje Kimpton-managed Mason and Rook Hotel at 1430 Rhode Island Avenue NW last August. Cocktails looping in local spirits include La Reina (charred pineapple Cotton & Reed rum, fino sherry, caramelized banana, chili dust) and a seasonal Green Hat Floral gin and tonic with lime, coconut water, elderflower, and orange bitters. A brief list of alfresco shared plates includes spiced nuts, boards loaded up with Italian and Spanish cured meats, and cocas built around combos like grilled peach with Serrano ham and mozzarella or roasted chicken in a charrred tomato ragu with wild nettles and robiola cheese. A meze platter comes with whipped hummus, labneh, minted tabouleh, and naan. Hush opens Thursday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
