In most neighborhoods, caffeine is never too far away.

The whole region seems to be awash in caffeine. From D.C.'s Northeast neighborhoods to downtown to the cluster of ultra-caffeinated Logan and Shaw, everywhere the city's constantly caffeinated masses turn, there seems to be a new coffee shop that just opened its doors.

Some, like The Coffee Bar, Compass Coffee, and La Colombe, that just had one location as recently as six months ago have morphed into two. Others, such as Filter, Zeke's, and the Colony Club, have brought specialty coffee to neighborhoods that may have only had a Starbucks — or nothing at all. For the true coffee nerds, there's even a new coffee shop in Adams Morgan that will make the geeks gag.

And in six months, there will certainly be more coffee shops to report on because morning, noon, or night, D.C. denizens need their caffeine to keep on hustling.
