16 New Brunches to Try NOW

It's been several months since we updated our Brunch Heatmap (though we did give you the scoop on 2013 bottomless offerings in October). Several new restaurants have started brunch service since. Several spots have also revamped their brunch offerings. So it's time for a full-on reset of the Eater Brunch Heatmap. These places all either launched or revamped their brunch menus in the fall or winter months. Check out what they have to offer.

Jeff Black's latest venture is serving up dishes like monkey bread, oyster po' boys and brioche French toast with pear compote. There's also a Cure Your Ailments drink menu with offerings like a charred tomato Bloody Mary.

Cork has been trying to emphasize its cocktail program, with a formal menu and interesting offerings spiked with ingredients like cognac. It first started showing off the drinks at brunch service, where they accompany options like crispy polenta with poached eggs, Cork-cured Juniper gravlax and a wintery panzanella with roasted tomatoes.

Petworth Citizen & Reading Room

Petworth Citizen has a fairly straightforward new brunch menu, with corned beef hash, shrimp and waffles and burgers. A horseradish and Sriracha-spiked Bloody Mary is a good accompaniment.

El Chucho Cocina Superior

El Chucho's new condensed brunch menu higlights four items: Chilaquiles, buttermilk masa pancakes, Green Eggs and Ham (poached eggs, ham, black beans and chimichurri sauce) and rum raisin tamales. All items are priced under $10, and there are brunch cocktails as well, including green Bloody Marys, mimosas and more.

Marvin's beloved chicken and waffles still are featured on their brunch menu, but there are new options as well. Try out biscuits and gravy, shrimp and grits, bread pudding French toast, a salad nicoise, a kale and goat cheese-stuffed omelette, huevos rancheros, and more. The prices at brunch range from $8-18.

Ted's Bulletin

Ted's Bulletin is known for its epic breakfasts and the new 14th Street location is no exception. Try homemade pop-tarts, donuts, beer biscuits and gravy and a "walk of shame" burrito.

Piola Arlington

Piola Arlington decided to follow in the footsteps of the DC location this November and offer unlimited pizza brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Get the deal for $15.95 ($7.95 for kids) and add pitchers of sparkling drinks for another $14.95.

Morrison House Hotel

At the Grille at Morrison House, it's all about the duck press at brunch. The press helps the cook express juices from the duck to make a decadent sauce for the duck breast served at brunch. The brunch in general is a buffet, with other options like crepes, petit fours and beignets, all for $38.

Sprig & Sprout

Sprig and Sprout's brunch launched in October. On the menu: Bo Kho, a beef stew, and Banh Cuon (steamed rice crepes), as well as some classic dishes with a Vietnamese twist (think taro and potato home fries). There are also some classic offerings, like Bloody Marys.

Et Voila!

Et Voila started fall with a new brunch menu, with choices like a croque monsieur, buckwheat crepes and steak and eggs with Bordelaise. Some of the restaurant's cult favorites, like the mussel burger, are also available during brunch hours. Cocktails like a Bloody Lobster or bellinis complement ($12 for bottomless).

Lemon pancakes, French toast and eggs in purgatorio are among those dishes served during brunch at Arcuri, which they host on both Saturdays and Sundays.

Baklava French toast and spit-roasted chicken and waffles grace the menu at Kapnos during brunch hours. There's also spiked coffee, and orzo pasta bake and more.

Just this week, Bar Charley announced its new brunch menu, which debuts Saturday. There's a prix fixe option that includes a basket of cheddar biscuits for the table, a choice of entree, and the choices of bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Marys, Bloody Beers (Schlitz and house-made bloody mix), Schlitz tallboys or Zeke's Coffee, all for $23.95. There's also an a la carte menu with items such as French toast and roasted mushroom omelette.

City Tap House also kicks off its first brunch service this weekend. Look for such dishes as foie gras French toast, chicken and waffles, pizzas, a bottomless brunch bar (with Bloody Marys and mimosas) and more.
