Where to Find Warm, Buttery Biscuits Around D.C.

Everything tastes better on a biscuit

Biscuits are built for comfort. A perfectly golden-brown square or circle is fluffy, flaky, crispy on the outside, and buttery soft on the inside. It can be a meal on its own, a canvas for butter and jam, or a building block for fried chicken sandwiches. In the District, some of the best can be found at all-day breakfast joints and more surprising locales, like a steak-heavy tavern by Union Market, a Michelin-starred Mid-Atlantic restaurant in Blagden Alley, or a new hotel restaurant in Alexandria.

A number of D.C. area restaurants have resumed dine-in service. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concerns. The Washington Post is tracking coronavirus cases and deaths in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. More information can be found at coronavirus.dc.gov. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
