The steady flow of new breweries in the area doesn’t show any signs of drying up. A number of new spots have opened in the past year, adding to the depth of beer in the region.

Loudoun County’s “Ale Trail” keeps getting longer, contract brewing is helping some younger brewers springboard into the business, and local favorites are growing with new taprooms and wider distribution. Virginia is still leading the charge with openings and expansions, but the District saw some changes with Bardo’s relocation by Nationals Park.

Eater has updated this guide to showcase those breweries that have opened in the past year or so. Coming soon to the DMV beer scene: Wicked Bloom Social Club offshoot Soul Mega Brewing Company in D.C.; Nostrum Brewing Company in Alexandria; Chubby Squirrel Brewing Company in Fairfax; and a new location of Caboose Brewing Co. in Mosaic District.
