Most D.C. tourists find their way to Georgetown eventually. This historic neighborhood is a draw for its beautiful architecture and cobblestone streets, with plentiful shopping options.
Georgetown’s food scene is having a renaissance too, with a blossoming of very pleasant outdoor dining areas during the pandemic and many new bar and restaurant openings in the past few years as well. Newbies include everything from Sandlot’s outdoor shipping container bar, Southeast Asian hotspot Sticx and upstairs wine bar Stonz, Persian eatery Noosh, and classy cocktail lounge Donahue.
On the horizon, restaurant magnate Stephen Starr is plotting a “mega Italian” outpost for M Street. For now, Officina’s Georgetown market is the place to grab packaged pastas and other imported essentials. On the baked goods front, consider delightfully gooey cookies from NYC’s Levain or Parisian pastries from Boulangerie Christophe. For a luxe hotel meal, Georgetown is home to Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak in the Four Seasons and Wolfgang Puck’s Cut in the Rosewood.
