Pride organizers in D.C. were planning for a quiet opening weekend because of the pandemic, but the dates aligned for Friday festivities to start on the same day D.C. lifted major restrictions on bars, clubs, and music venues. The official Capital Pride Opening Party is Friday, June 11, at Compass Coffee’s brand new roasting facility in Ivy City (1401 Okie Street SE). A Capital Pride Walk and Rally scheduled for Saturday, June 12, invites demonstrators to “walk, run, bike, rollerblade, [or] stroll” from Logan Circle down to Freedom Plaza at 13th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. A mobile Pridemobile Parade starts Saturday at 3 p.m. Check out DCists’s full guide to Pride events and street closures here. This map tracks down D.C. restaurants, bars, and clubs who are offering Pride specials and donating proceeds to LGBQT+ causes.
The latest CDC guidance for vaccinated diners during the COVID-19 outbreak is here; dining out still carries risks for unvaccinated diners and workers. Please be aware of changing local rules, and check individual restaurant websites for any additional restrictions such as mask requirements. Find a local vaccination site here.
