The rule of only eating oysters during the "r" months has become outdated, but some purists still prefer to focus on the raw bar item before summer spawning season hits. Much like last year, Eater has rounded up the restaurants in town serving these discounted bivalves during happy hour. Check out several places to experience the wide range of flavors that different types of oysters can offer.

Chef Jeff Black's restaurants have become a force in the oyster world with two signature oysters. At Black's Bar and Kitchen, Chesapeake Bay oysters are $2.25 and two for one during happy hour. Boutique oysters including those signature oysters, are $2.50, and premiums are $2.95.

Choose from a variety of platters with items such as oysters, Jonah crab claws, lobsters, shrimp, and littleneck clams, depending on location. The deals run 3 to 6 pm and 11 p.m.-1 a.m. at Clyde's of Gallery Place Sunday-Thursday. Clyde's of Tysons Corner happy hour is seven days a week from 3-6 p.m. and 10 p.m.-midnight. Hours vary by the day at Tower Oaks.
