Fourth of July festivities will be more restrained this year due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, but many restaurants and bars are trying their best to keep spirits high with socially distanced outdoor parties, to-go barbecue dinners, and waterfront options that pair well with fireworks on the Potomac River. Here are several options for takeout, grilling kits, patio specials, and more.

A number of D.C. area restaurants have resumed dine-in service. The level of service offered is indicated on each map point. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concern. The Washington Post is tracking coronavirus cases and deaths in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. More information can be found at coronavirus.dc.gov. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
