No Longer a Wasteland: New and Upcoming Places to Try in Rosslyn

Is Rosslyn actually moving towards a critical mass of new restaurants? The Arlington neighborhood has always been known more for office buildings and bland chain lunch places than for an exciting dining scene. But that's changing with the arrival of buzzy local projects like Heavy Seas Alehouse and Ben's Chili Bowl.

To get a better feel for Rosslyn's new restaurant landscape, here's a map of 10 restaurants that have opened recently or are staking their claim in Rosslyn soon (another from the Curry Mantra team is coming, too, but there's not an exact address yet). And Rosslyn regulars know the place already had some solid options, like Piola, Pho 75, Cafe Asia and Ray's Whatever It's Called This Week.

100 Montaditos

Spanish fast-casual restaurant 100 Montaditos is slowly taking over Washington, and the Rosslyn location opened in March of this year. They have a super affordable happy hour, as well as sandwiches and other classic Spanish dishes.

Heavy Seas Alehouse

When Baltimore-based brewery Heavy Seas Alehouse opened an outpost in Rosslyn in February 2014, the demand was so strong that the bar went through more than 75 kegs a week. The menu leans classic bar food, with some Maryland influences.

Bistro 360

Last week, the new Bistro 360 softly opened in the space formerly occupied by Cafe Assorti (the market was first to open there). Owned by Art Hauptman of Cassatt's, Bistro 360's menu includes appetizers and entrees from around the world; there's also the market and a wine bar.

Ben's Chili Bowl

Ben's Chili Bowl's Rosslyn outpost opened this past March, and none other than Bill Cosby himself was there for the half-smoke joint's grand opening.

COMING SOON: Georgia-based chain Sip Wine & Tapas wanted to open an Arlington location by this summer, but their website now says coming April 2015. The original plan was to offer lunch, dinner and brunch, and 80 wines by the sip, half-glass, full glass and bottle.

COMING SOON: New York-style pizza is headed to Rosslyn. The owner of Mount Vernon Triangle's popular Wiseguy NY Pizza recently signed a lease to open in the former Quizno's location at 1735 North Lynn St.
