But if you are planning on an indulgent three-course dinner or a festive post-gift-unwrapping brunch — or just trying to get out of the house on December 25, there are some options. Here now is a guide to some of the city's restaurants open on Christmas Day, so you can lock in reservations for your holiday feast.

Blue Duck Tavern

The refined Plume at the Jefferson Hotel's three course, prix fixe Christmas dinner runs $89 per adult and $45 for children ages 12 and under, including an amuse bouche of gougeres stuffed with truffled bechamel, then appetizers, entrees like prime rib and stuffed sole filet, and polished off with carrot cake, orange cranberry cobbler or chocolate brownies for dessert.

From noon to 9 p.m. on Christmas day, J&G Steakhouse will host a $72-per-person four-course tasting menu including rice cracker crusted tuna, butternut squash soup, and filet mignon with gingered mushroom. The steakhouse's regular a la carte menu will also be available.

This new restaurant from the Founding Farmers team will be open as normal on Christmas Day from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., although the sushi bar will only be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Maybe burn some calories after your meal at the new Washington Harbour ice skating rink, located right next to Farmers Fishers Bakers.
