Whether a diner is trying to find a less crowded restaurant, has a friend in town or just doesn't feel like cooking, dining out on a Monday night can certainly be an appealing option. The problem — many restaurants decide to close that evening, whether because it's traditionally a slow night or because the staff just needs a night off. It's easy to head over to a restaurant on Monday only to be surprised by the "closed" sign on the door.
It always pays to call ahead, but Eater's taking a little guesswork out of the equation with this updated guide to some notable restaurants which are closed Mondays. Some restaurants pick Sunday or Tuesday to close instead, so diners should keep that in mind as well. But there's no reason to fret — so many more restaurants are open on Mondays. In fact, Eater just updated a guide to those which offer interesting specials on that day.
