With only two new burger-centric joints making their debut so far this year, the D.C. burger boom may have slowed a bit. But by no means is the area's ground beef selection getting stale.

In this edition of Eater's Burger Heat Map, we take a look at the latest burgers to hit the streets in the past six months or so, including top picks from TKO Burger, City Burger and other recent openings as well as brand-new additions from several veteran D.C. joints.

Look out 2941 — there’s a new fancy duck burger in town. Tucked away in Tysons Galleria’s Ritz Carlton, Jose Andres’ just-opened America Eats Tavern has a foie gras burger on the menu featuring Hudson Valley foie gras, caramelized onions with huckleberries and grain mustard. However, all this fancy doesn’t come cheap– the burger is a whopping $27.

Bobby's Burger Palace

Bobby’s Burger Palace’s menu received an overhaul earlier this year and added four new burgers to its lineup. The star of the quartet is the New Mexico burger, a regional speciality by Flay with roasted green chiles, pickled red onions and queso sauce.

With the return of Dino’s, opening in its new Shaw location last month, the Dino Burger is once again in play for D.C. diners. The popular burger puts 10 ounces of dry-aged beef topped with an anchovy sriracha aioli and house relish in between grilled ciabatta.

Heavy Seas Alehouse

Chances are you won’t find fried avocado on any other burger in the D.C. area aside from Heavy Sea’s Tortuga creation in Arlington. The fried fruit does its best turtle-shell impression here featuring a light panko and a spicy papaya slaw.

The Partisan

The latest burger from chef Nate Anda is available at the meat-centric Partisan on D Street. Anda takes the same dry-aged beef patty used in his acclaimed Red Apron Original, splits in two and adds a chorizo patty in the middle and then piles bacon-braised onions, American cheese and tomato aioli on top to create the Triple Stack Burger.

Ray’s³ [Ray's To The Third]

The lineup of Hell Burgers at Ray’s to the Third just got another member: The Brimstone Burger. In keeping with the nether-world theme, Michael Landrum’s newest burger creation tops the beef with Ray’s Purgatory chili, Vermont cheddar, raw red onions and charred jalapeno.
