Washington's international bent means restaurants and bars source some interesting wines from around the country and all over the world. Tasting all that inventory can quickly become a pricey hobby, particularly for oenophiles who gravitate toward finer vintages or favor ordering a bottle or two alongside dinner.
Paying full price for that next pour doesn't have to be a given, though. Many restaurants offer half-priced wines during off-times. Most of these specials happen early in the week, such as Mondays at Takoda and Duke's Counter, and Tuesdays at normally beer-centric Brookland Pint. And it's common to see "Wine Wednesday" promotions around the city to help guests get over hump day.
