Nestled on a peninsula of land between the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers is the Northern Neck. Just about a two-hour drive from D.C. you’ll discover a peaceful area of Virginia that is less traveled and steeped in history. This treasured landmark is where generations of watermen continue to harvest rockfish, blue crabs, and Virginia oysters.

To explore the waterways yourself, bring along a kayak, paddle board, or charter a fishing boat. And meet the local farmers at an array of produce stands and markets spread across town.

Here are 11 must-try dining destinations around the Northern Neck.
