Bloomingdale, a small neighborhood where Northwest D.C. meets Northeast, is teeming with options to eating and drinking and only getting better.
The neighborhood is low on pretentiousness and high on warmth and hospitality. Take the Red Hen, for example. It’s still one of the hardest tables to get in town, but the Italian restaurant has a giant first-come, first-serve bar and makes it a policy to keep other seats open for walk-ins. Other standbys include Big Bear Cafe, Boundary Stone, and Showtime. An exciting new crop of restaurants and bars— places like Truxton Inn, Anxo Cidery, and DCitySmokehouse — are more recent arrivals.
It's a safe bet that there's plenty more to come. Here’s where to eat right now in Bloomingdale.
