Beef is an elusive commodity at grocery stores these days, which means going the restaurant route may be the best way to feed a burger craving.

Plenty of Eater D.C.’s essential burgers are still available on menus around town while the coronavirus crisis has limited restaurants to takeout and delivery. More restaurants are also hopping on the burger bandwagon leading into Memorial Day weekend. There’s a burger in Alta Strada’s new weekday lunch menu, Dupont’s SaufHaus has a $10 “Captain Ovi” Burger on its brand new takeout menu, and Petworth’s Pom Pom just rolled out an at-home burger box option with two bottles of wine from its online store, Seco.

Here are 18 superior burgers to order right now:

Silver Spring, MD 20910

The beloved basement bar sells takeout burgers — with tots, of course — and 32-ounce beers during the pandemic. Choose from over a dozen options, like Netflix & Chili Burger, Kraut-burg, or the Morning Glory (with a fried egg). On Mondays, buy a burger and get the second half-off.

Washington, DC 20017

Brookland’s French wine bar has flipped into a new carryout operation dubbed Larry’s Chicken and Cheeseburgers. Phone in orders for the familiar “Larry Burger” (white American cheese, onion jam, mayo, steak fries). Make it a double for $6 more.

Here’s one you should add to your list: K-Town Bistro in Kensington MD. https://ktownbistro.com/take-out-and-delivery/

They offer 8 different burgers on their "burgerlicious" menu, plus add-ons. The burgers range from Classic to the Burgerzilla (1 full pound!) with picante, avocado, veggie burgers and even a breakfast burger. In every case, you get a perfectly cooked top quality burger. Add house cut fries or, if you prefer veggies for a complete meal for $13 to $20 bucks. Best burger outside the beltway IMHO!

They have a full dinner and lunch menu, too, and everything is available for pickup or delivery. Try their osso buco!! (I have no connection to this restaurant, just a very satisfied customer.)
